Scientists and Tourists Can Work Together Well

Have you ever had this kind of experience: a geography scientist guides you through a visit to a geology park which is also the place where he does his research. During the trip he not only takes you to the place where you can see the fantastic sight you have never seen before, but also he explains the cause of formation of the rocks, rivers, mountains and the caves. You get the knowledge which you never had before when enjoying the amazing view. At the same time the scientist’s research center gets money from the tour company because they offered their work place to the company for the tourists. With the money, they can equip more advanced devices for their research. At the same time, during the trip, you can apply to explore a small cave with a team of scientists, and they give you a basic training before that. After the trip you get so much geographical knowledge which you could never imagine. Will you keep the amazing trip as a secret from your family or friends? Of course, you will not. I think to share an exiting experience with others is the first choice for most people, so that more people get the knowledge. In this case, tourists and scientists work together very well, both of them get what they want, meanwhile they make contribution to protect the environment: tourists can bring money to scientists for their research and directly participate in some simple scientific research, and meanwhile scientists can give professional advice while people travel with them which can make more people interested in natural environment and when the tourists share the experience with more people when they get back, they make more people interested in the place and have the sense to protect it.

First, I think tourists and scientists can work together very well because tourists can bring considerable money to scientists which they can use it for their research. Space tours are a good example for this. As we know, as normal people, maybe several years ago to travel to space is only a dream, but nowadays anyone can travel to the International Space Station by space craft once you have enough money. So far more than 5 people visited the space station, and the first tourist paid 2 million dollars for his unique travel. But the price has gone down and more and more people can afford the price. And the Russian space administration has offered this kind of service to normal people from where they have the funds to run their space research. At the same time, in my hometown, there is a dinosaur theme park. There are hundreds of fossils in different ages exhibited there. Archaeologist and geology scientists do their research there while the park attracts thousands and millions of people every year. Of course the park is not for free, and considerable part of the park’s income will used for the research.

Moreover, tourists can attend some basic lectures on research and help scientists while they are having fun and learning new knowledge. For example, archaeology is the subject which is about discovery. To archaeologists, they need more people to search for things they are looking for, and tourists can do this with pleasure. “A tour for exhumation” must be a very attractive title, which is about having a chance to attend an exhumation work after some basic training. Meanwhile, tourists can also do the favor for scientists like diving to inspect coral reefs which they just need to report what they see and the color of coral. It is simple and fun. At the same time, the tour which is guided by scientists can make tourists learn much more about the place they visit. For instance, if we travel to a cave, a geologist has more background knowledge to explain the formation of the cave and the distinctive sight inside of it. And an archaeologist is more appropriate to be a guider when tourists visit a history site – he can not only introduce the history of it, but also give some stories behind the history. Once people know the place and share the fantastic experience with more people, do you think they will do any harm to the amazing place? I think more than 90 percent of those people will do everything they can to protect the place. That is what scientists want.

Last but not the least, tourists can get more people’s attention to the environment. For instance, when a tourist returns home, I believe at least 90% people will bring something about the place where they visited back. That may be pictures, videos or souvenirs. When they share these with their friends and family, they to help more people learn he place and raise the consciousness to protect the beautiful place. Also they will share they tour experience with their colleagues, classmates, teachers or even the strangers they meet on streets when they chat with each other. Consequently, even one tourist who attends the tour which guided by scientists can effect hundreds of people to have the sense to protect natural environment both directly and indirectly.

However, someone may see the examples of tourists’ damage to natural environment where they visit. Is it all the tourists’ responsibility? I think it is not. Once the manager of the beauty spot has the right to control tourists’ behavior, all the problems will be solved. Consequently, tourists and scientists can work together well because traveling can bring scientists money for their research, tourists can attend some simple scientific activity directly to give some help to scientists, and, after they know more about the environment problem, they will, pay more attention to protect the planet we live in.

How Tour Companies Help the Environment in Antarctica

Antarctica is one of the most special conservation areas in the world. Tourists have two ways of traveling which are by airplane and icebreaker. This kind of traveling is for education. People visit and learn about nature land, ice, and wild animals. Tourists must have a lot of money and good physical health. In fact, tour companies understand that most tourists who visit are rich or upper-class people. Tour companies can insure that the environment in Antarctica is safe, teach tourists some regulations before visiting, but need to appoint some guides to support the tourists and donate money to help the environment in Antarctica.

First, tour companies need to teach tourists some regulations before visiting. They should give some information that tells tourists Antarctica is very important for Earth. Today Antarctica’s ice is melting and has extreme weather, and global warming is becoming worse. Antarctica’s ice can control the temperature of ocean circulation and help most creatures to live on Earth. As a result, people need to treasure Antarctica. With this information, people know that they couldn’t destroy this distinctive area.

Second, traveling in Antarctica should be a guided. Tour companies need to appoint some guides to assist tourists in traveling. Guides make sure every tourist to has a significant experience. Before arriving at Antarctica, people take the icebreaker and see vast icebergs along the way. When tourists come to there, a view of all kinds of huge and strange ice landscape can be seen. Everything is unbelievable. Tourists will recognize human beings as very tiny in this world and learn how to protect Antarctica.

Third, tour companies can donate money to support scientists. Many people desire to travel to Antarctica, so tour companies make much money through Antarctica tourism. Therefore, they could give some money to help scientists’ research. The most important research is ice in Antarctica that causes the weather change. The scientific community thinks that human beings cause global warming. Moreover, broad masses of the ice sheet have disappeared. If the ice melts a lot, many islands will disappear, too. It’s very noteworthy that scientists study change of ice in Antarctica. Scientists can gather more information to learn how to protect the environment in Antarctica is safe.

In conclusion, Antarctica is a truly distinctive region. When people go to Antarctica, they need to respect the rules to make sure that the environment in Antarctica is safe. Moreover, tour companies should have keen sense of responsibility, and defend nature against tourists.

La Crosse and Taipei

I have tried to figure out the differences and similarities between Taipei and La Crosse’s night lives. I found out some interesting similarities between Taiwan and La Crosse. However, those two are different in many ways, because Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, and La Crosse is just a small city in the US.

Although La Crosse and Taipei are geographically different, their night lives are similar in several ways. I live in the mountainside in Taipei, and I like to watch movies with my friends. The same thing I do in La Crosse. In both cities, I like to go to parties at night. It’s the best activity at night. Also, my friend and I like to drive to the top of the mountain and enjoy the sunrise in Taipei. Similarly, I want to go to the bluffs, but I don’t have a car in La Crosse.

There are several differences between La Crosse and Taipei. La Crosse is a small town so many stores are close at 8pm. In Taipei a lot of stores close around midnight. Also in Taipei, there is a night market which means many kinds of booths are on the same street at night. I like that because there are many delicious dishes. On the other hand, night has a deep meaning which is drinking and parties. Although La Crosse has many bars, they are almost the same, which involve only drinking and talking to friends. In Taipei, I can go to different kinds of bars, such as lounge bars, pubs, and country bars, and I can choose whatever I like. Taipei has an activity that people can’t find in the La Crosse. This is a special event called karaoke where we sing for the whole night.

All in all, I need to stay in La Crosse for four or five years, so it is probably best for me to get rid of my Taipei’s night life memories that will never happen in La Crosse. Those two places certainly have differences and a few similarities as well.

Scientists and Tourists Working Together

The Earth--it is the mother of every life. People won’t want to hurt the earth . they know that will destroy everyone’s home. For the question, “Is it possible for scientists and tourists to work together to protect the environment?” my answer will be “Why not?”. Do you want to hurt your mother? Though you know that will to hurt her you will still do that? Do you forget the justice in your heart?

The Earth is like our mother. Nobody wants to hurt their mother. If tourists and scientists can understand this point, I believe they will like to care of the Earth. And I believe the scientists will have a lot of ways to help tourists to understand and love Earth more. Right now, everybody knows the garbage should be sorted out. That was everyone to work together to protect the environment.

In my opinion, I believe if everyone can have a chance to choose evil or justice, most of people probably will choose justice. What does that mean? That mean is no one wants to choose the evil way. And most of people want to be the justice way. For example when you throw away the guns you will know that was wrong. Maybe you still do it, but you know that is wrong.

Scientists and tourists only have one thing need to do. That is try to understand each other more. Scientists love earth ,so they work there. Tourists love Earth, so they travel there. Everyone loves earth, if let they to more understand each. Deservedly everyone will protect the “Mother” together.

A Place for Travel

When pandas just arrived at America, they attracted 20,000 people to visit. Pandas are so lovely and rare that people always pay special attention to them. There are just one thousand and five hundred pandas in the world, and they need the best environment to live. Where is the best environment for them to live? In China, Wolong Mountain is a wonderful place for them to live in. There are many pandas living there, and it has beautiful scenery.

Wolong Mountain is really a good place to travel, and it a base for pandas in the Sichuan province, so you can find many pandas there. They live in nature, and workers take care of them. They are very lovely and full of activity. When you find them, a panda maybe climbing a tree or playing with another. You can play with them and take a photo, and their action will make you laugh non-stop. You enjoyment will make you forget the time.

Also, there is a lot of beautiful scenery and wonderful environment. When you go into the mountain, all kinds of trees surround you. You can hear birds singing, and the brooks are sparkling in brightness. The air is filled with the smell of bamboo. It’s fresh and makes people full of energy. Even though the waterfall is not large, it is exquisite. Your heart will be filled with calm when it’s immersed in nature.

In conclusion, Wolong Mountain really is the best place for tourists to visit. You can see the lovely panda and beautiful scenery. You will enjoy it and love it there.

Differences and Similarities Between Japan and the United States

When I came to the US, I thought Japan was influenced a lot by the US after World War II because there are several similarites between two countries. In fact, Japan has restaurants and retail chains just as the US has them. Also, some products are the same, especially consumer goods like shampoo and stationery. But it doesn't mean Japan has changed completely. Although, more or less, Japanese styles changed, we have the styles which are unchanged.

First, we have a lot of restaurants and coffee shops which come from the US. The products they sell are the same. Also, layouts in the shops and the systems are all alike. Most international students find it hard to order some food at the restaurants when we arrived at the US and started to live here. So we are likely to select the restaurants we know already, such as McDonalds.

Second, I found some differences between the two countries. For example, what surprised me was that the US people don't to take their shoes off in their houses or take a shower in the morning instead of in the evening. These life styles make me feel weird. I think of these life styles as unsanitary. Even if it is true that a proverb says when in Rome do as the Rome do, I don't want my Japanese styles to change

In conclusion, of course , finding the differences are interesting, but it is ridiculous to compare too much. The important thing is not to deny their life styles but to acknowledge each other, and we can respect their culture and life styles.

Okinawa

My big brother has traveled to Okinawa although I have never gone there. In addition, I have seen Okinawa on the TV and heard a lot of attractive information from my friends. I think Okinawa in Japan is the best place for tourists to visit because it has the most beautiful coast in Japan, has terrific fruit, and a comfortable climate.

First, Okinawa has the most beautiful coast in Japan. Many people like the ocean, so many people would like to go there. For example, people can enjoy swimming, fishing, and diving in Okinawa’s coast. Actually, my friends have traveled to there, and they enjoyed those attractive events.

Second, people can eat terrific fruit in Okinawa. Those fruit are more expensive than Tokyo’s fruit. For instance, mango, banana, and passion fruit are very common fruits in Okinawa.If I want to eat those fruit, I have to spend twice as much money, so I have never eaten it. However, I watched on TV that people are eating fruit from Okinawa when I lived in Japan.

Third, Okinawa has a comfortable climate for many people. The climate in Okinawa is usually very warm, so it is good for people to play outside. Also, it doesn’t snow in Okinawa, so people don’t feel cold in winter. I think it brings many benefits for people. For example, people don’t need to change their car’s tires in winter, so people don’t have to spend money for that.

In conclusion, I think Okinawa in Japan is the best place for visitors. If I will have an opportunity to travel to Okinawa, I want to enjoy that trip and do many events and activities.

My Cousin and I

Yesterday was my younger cousin’s birthday, and I called to celebrate her 23rd birthday. We talked for a long time and the past life was in our memory again. She lived in my home for 5 years because her parents were very busy. Can you believe that we slept in the same bed and sometimes wore the same style clothes? We did many things together. We have many similarities; both of us like to watch movies, go shopping, read books, and talk about anything with each other. So my mother always asks us: “Why do you have so many words to talk?” However she has some different aspect from me. She likes to play sports, but I don’t like it very much. Her character is very lively, whereas I’m a little quiet. We compared to the similarities and difference between us for the first time yesterday. We found that very interesting, and maybe that is why we were very good cousins and the best friends.

At first glance, my cousin and I have many things in common. First of all, both of us like to watch movies, especially romantic movies. In addition, she likes to go shopping and read books which is similar to me. When we went shopping, we always gave some advise to each other. I like to read San Mao’s books, who is a Taiwanese writer. My cousin likes to read poems. We always talked to each other about our books. The most interesting point was we liked to talk about our life, our dreams, our friends, and secrets about our life.

On the other hand, she is different from me. She likes to play tennis, swim, and ride bike, but I rarely play sports. I was terrible to build muscle. Also her character is very lively. She likes to talk to other people, she likes to make friends with many kinds of people, and she always is full of energy. On the contrary, I’m a little quiet, and I don’t like to talk with many people. Most of the time, I like to read books alone. I like to communicate with different kinds of people, but that was just idle chitchat. This was different from my cousin.

In conclusion, after we talked yesterday, we found there are many similarities and differences between us. Although right now we do not live together, but we have a big plan that we will take a trip around the world. We are the best cousins, friends, and partners. So it must become true in the future!

The Tour Companies Should Protect Antactica

Most people want to have a chance to visit Antarctica. There every single thing is from nature, and also everything becomes a mystery for people. The more mystical the place is, the more people will visit it. On the other hand, people can see the most beautiful things there, even though the weather is the coldest. When a place has a lot of visitors, other problems come with them. There aren't any laws to protect Antarctica, so the best thing is to require the tour companies to protect Antarctica. Before humankind goes there, there are several things to do: signing the contract, having a class and preparing the trip.

The first main task is signing the contract. Antarctica doesn’t have a government or have international laws to manage it, so the best thing is to stop some problems caused by tourists by putting them into the contract to protect Antarctica. Sometimes that’s really useful to control tourists. For example, my cousin went to on international park in Taiwan. He saw a beautiful stone, and then he put it into his baggage. After he did that, he got a ticket from a police officer. The ticket was five hundred dollars. If tourists know the laws first, most people will not break them.

In addition, the companies should have a class for the tourists who are going to visit Antarctica. Having knowledge is the most important part for traveling. If tourists don’t know much about their destination, the tourists can destroy the place easily. Sometime things happen because of misunderstanding. For this reason, teaching tourists about the place and informing them that protecting Antarctica is important will help them to have a basic knowledge for their trip. As an example, my cousin didn’t have enough knowledge about the international park, so he got a ticket, but he finally knew why the government sets the law for those stones.

Finally, the companies can prepare the trip for tourists, and also the companies can have a schedule before they take tourists there. When tourists know what they are going and doing, they will pay the most attention to everything because they are going to take care and focus on their next steps. On the other hand, if the tourists don’t know what they are going to do, the problems will come pretty soon. For example, if want to make peanut butter cookies, and I don’t know exactly the steps, my kitchen would be become a mess.

In conclusion, the companies can find out some problems caused by tourists, and then put it into the contract. Most people always follow the law or their promise. Next, they should have a class about Antarctica. Having enough knowledge is better than not knowing anything. On the other hand, the companies are preparing the trip for tourists. The companies stand on a truly important side with Antarctic, also they should have a responsibility for this unique place.

Egypt and the United States

Last year I went to Egypt for a visit after 4 years of being in the United States of America. I know there are a lot of things that are different between the USA and Egypt. I would like to talk about the similarities and differences between Egypt and the USA.

At first, Egypt and the USA have the same way kind of political system; both countries have to elect a President. Egypt and the USA both have open markets for a free economy.

If we talk what is different between the USA and Egypt, we will find a lot of things that are different. USA has a lot of freedom and Egypt does not have freedom.

In Egypt they really have bad way for life and the USA has a good way for life. What I do not like in the USA is they do not offer a good program for healthcare; however Egypt does well in that

Two Bosses I Have Worked With

When I worked for a chemical institute as a researcher, I worked with two bosses, my director and executive director. Although they supervised me very well, I had difficult times. Even now, I appreciate my director very much, and yet I do not like my executive director. They had similarities and differences.

Both my director and executive director praised my hard work. When I succeeded in big projects, my director praised me very much; likewise, my executive director admired me and gave me the outstanding performance award in technical development. I will not forget the time when my executive director and I shook hands with a firm grip. Another similarity was both my director and executive director liked talking. We had often talked about our future dreams each other, so I had the time of my life.

On the other hand, my executive director scolded me severely when my development was delayed, and I received complaints from clients, which were Kodak, Sony, and Sharp. I was called by my executive director many times at two o’clock in the morning and scolded me very much; whereas, my director helped me at even two o’clock in the morning when I was troubled with my development. He had never harshly criticized me like my director executive. He told me that all development did not succeed even if he or she scolded researchers many times and it was important that all bosses had to share the feeling suffered from development to arrive at success. Because I admired this philosophy, I acquired the thoughts of my director. Moreover, although my director worked more than me, my executive director went to his office in the early afternoon and left his office in the evening almost every day. This was the one of the reasons why I was not able to respect my executive director.

To conclude, my two bosses had similarities and differences. Both my director and executive director praised me very highly and liked talking. In spite of delaying my development, my director had never scolded me, but he supervised me very well. On the contrary, my executive director brought me to account for my failures many times, but his work was negligent. I look up to my director even now, and yet I would not like to meet my executive director again.
